There are countless scary PC titles that you can begin with. How about playing Resident Evil 7 Biohazard? It’s a part of a (so far) 2-game story about an ordinary man, Ethan, who wants to find his wife in a seemingly abandoned mansion. As it soon turns out, it is home to a, to put it lightly, slightly eccentric family of Bakers. 

Biohazard returns to the series’ roots, offering a genuinely scary experience. The feeling of seclusion and hopelessness you may remember from early RE entries is back again, which resulted in a disturbing, yet extremely intriguing adventure. Then, it is continued in its direct sequel, Resident Evil Village. 

After the traumatic events, he had to live through in Biohazard, Ethan ends up in an ominous, small village in Romania. A strange castle is apparently owned by the Dimitrescu family. The protagonist has no other choice but to face all the life-threatening obstacles this place throws at him to find his kidnapped daughter.

Fear can be distributed in small portions, building up tension and, consequently, resulting in you wondering if your mental health can handle this much. The story told in the FEAR Complete Pack starts slowly, making you feel this is an ordinary shooter. As soon as things get unsettling and scary, you get to know about a mysterious woman named Alma. 

For the rest of the series, you will encounter her several times and find out about your unlikely connection to her. Despite their age, FEAR games have a realistic feel to them, intelligent enemies who can easily outsmart you, and satisfying shooting. Giving this franchise a go will not disappoint you.
